Founded in 1968, the Fédération acadienne de la Nouvelle-Écosse is a non-profit organization with a mission to promote the growth and global development of the Acadian and Francophone community of Nova Scotia.
The Fédération acadienne is the official spokesperson of the Acadian and Francophone population of Nova Scotia. It coordinates co-operation and partnerships among its member organizations and offers programs and services that meet their needs. The Fédération acadienne presently has 29 regional, provincial and institutional members.
Through provincial initiatives, the Fédération acadienne ensures that the Acadian and Francophone communities of Nova Scotia receive French services. Furthermore, the Fédération acadienne works to obtain the necessary resources for the development of these communities. The Fédération’s main government partner is the Department of Canadian Heritage.
